We finally made it to the Reception!
In case you missed them, I already wrote about the other aspects of the wedding.
All photos are by Chelsea of Flightless Bird Photography.
Now on to the party!
As I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, JB and I are not the fancy traditional type people. We prefer low-key and casual and our wedding wasn’t far from that. Seriously, we were introduced as the Heavyweight Champions of the World (JB’s one request as well as walking in with a Danger Doom song. I had already talked him down from a tandem bicycle entrance people lol)

My brother was the emcee and forgot to say Mr & Mrs Barros but I’m pretty sure everyone knew who we were.
Our reception venue was the porch and grounds of one of the cabins our guests were staying in. Absolutely gorgeous right? Memory Mountain at Wolf Laurel. Check it out!
We had brunch theme with foods like hash, sausages, frittata, and a live omelette station which was a big hit! I honestly didn’t eat much of it and not for the reasons anyone actually says you won’t eat. We only had 45 people in attendance so making the rounds didn’t take all that long.
We only had 45 people in attendance so making the rounds didn’t take all that long. I just wasn’t hungry. I was so happy and caught up with everything that after a few bites I was done.It was delicious, don’t get me wrong. Everything was perfect without having any tasting prior to that day.
Planning a wedding from 800 miles away is hard lol.
We were going to have a sweetheart table but after everyone was seated we had people pull chairs up to our table so we could chat even more.
My little sister was actually my Maid fo Honor but she was too nervous to give a speech so my SIL stepped in and said a few words. The Best man gave his next, and not gonna lie (love you Heather) but Josh totally killed it. SO much so I even included is in our wedding album.
JB declared him the winner lol
Someone told my Dad that traditionally the Father of the Bride also gives a toast (we’re not wedding people so we don’t know the “proper” order of things). He got up a said a few words and made me cry.
He’s the best.
Then it was on to the yard games and general relaxation.
We had cornhole and a giant Jenga set courtesy of my Brother & SIL. The Jenga was so loud when it fell! It was definitely a hit.
We did all our dances right in a row after dinner. JB and I went first obviously. We danced to Better Place by Rachel Platten. Y’all, we talked about the Red Wedding……
I love him.
Next up was Mother-Son to One Call Away by Charlie Puth. & Father-Daughter to My Little Girl by Tim McGraw.
We seriously laughed and joked the whole time. He’s the best.
As JB was dancing with his Mom, Tyler our niece kept asking when it was her turn, when did she get a chance to dance with Uncle. So, of course, she picked a song and had a turn spinning around too lol. I even jumped in towards the end of the song.
Have I mentioned she was the ring bearer? She wanted to match Uncle so she wore a little tiny suit and was seriously cuter than enything I’ve ever seen before. Add in a tiny briefcase and she was ready to take over a Board Meeting. haha
As the night wore on, people drifted off to bed or inside to hang out. Cards got pulled out and the music changed vibes a bit too.
We never actually planned on having a dance floor and nobody danced to my knowledge. It was all fun and games. Chill. I walked around with this tiny human attached to me and it was an awesome night.
Finally, at some point, we got a giant group photo. Afterwards, I noticed a few of my family members were missing so it wasn’t quite everyone, but we tried. Oh well.
So there ya have it. Our very relaxed and casual reception in which we played card games with all my favorite people…..Epic wedding in my opinion.
Up next and my last wedding installment will be all the details of what I made. You’ve seen them sprinkled throughout but I’ll focus more on them.
And then I’ll shut-up about it. Maybe…
