Welcome to (the day after) Wedding Wednesday!
I didn’t quite make it but at least I put a post together at all so I’m pretty proud of myself. I actually spent an entire evening putting a few wedding posts together so if that’s your thing then you’ll be happy to hear that. If you hate weddings and general happiness then I suggest you click away to these weird things I made….
I’ve already posted about the venue if you missed it.
When I showed these dresses to someone the other day, they commented, “boy you sure do like purple!” Not really sure if that was a compliment or insult, but she wasn’t wrong. Purple is indeed my favorite color and our wedding color. Lavender and gray with dark purple accents.
The day dawned bright and early…… j/k I was up like all night coughing. I picked up a flu bug on the flight down to TN the week before the wedding and I was still getting over it. I was also just really excited so sleep wasn’t in the cards.
All the girls gathered at my family’s cabin and as my Dad made breakfast for everyone, the coffee brewed life into my zombie bridesmaids.
Aren’t they beautiful!
To my right and far left are my sisters. To my direct right is my way too cool for me friend Natalie. She was a game-changer during the set-up of the ceremony site. To my far left is technically one of JB’s oldest friends, and would have been a groomsgirl, but I stole her because I have way fewer friends then JB. I kid not.
We also played this really cool game called Spot It Hip. I’d never heard of it before, but I’m way behind on most things so that’s not really surprising. My smallest of “cousins” had the regular version at home so maybe you’ve heard of it already. It’s a super fun and quick game that is an awesome ice breaker group game.
(*They’re not really my cousins but they’re basically family and everyone thinks I’m related to them anyway so saying cousins is easier than trying to explain the backstory)
Anyway, hair and makeup started around 9 am? I honestly don’t remember. I was one of the last ones to go and we had already eaten lunch at that point.
This last picture is seriously the best. I won’t say that she was on her phone the entire time, but I won’t say she wasn’t….aw kids. To be young again lol.
I’ve already shown my dress, but seriously every bride should feel like the prettiest of princesses on her wedding day. I never wanted to take this thing off. It was everything I could have wanted in a dress and was completely “me.”
When I went dress shopping I knew I wanted sleeves and a higher neckline even if it was an illusion neckline. My residents also required that I get one with button up the back like all their dresses had so I satisfied everyone haha.
I did feel slightly bad for anyone who had to do the buttons. Their poor fingers.
Finally, can we talk about putting on the veil? There are practices and rehearsals for everything else, I should have sent my sister to veil putter on classes. She jammed it in there pretty well. Not entirely sure she didn’t hit some gray matter.
First off, let’s look at this hunk. Actually, keep scrolling because he’s mine and you can’t have him.
JB has been friends with all his groomsmen since like pre-school so they’re more like brothers than friends. They’re a goofy bunch and I like them. Pretty sure they like me, they didn’t object at the ceremony so I took it as a good sign.
Funny story, I was showing one of my gentleman residents my wedding photos the other day and he said they were a lot better than he thought they would be. I was clearly taken aback but he explained that every time I told him I was getting married in the mountains, he imagine me wearing hiking boots and dungarees, hiking up a mountain and getting married at the top haha.
I’ll end with this photo of the girls. After those ugly mugs of the boys I want to sooth your eyes before you go. You’re welcome. 😀
Next up, will be Ceremony pictures where you’ll see some of my yarn crafts.
